How to Delete Your Yaowise Account
We respect your right to control your personal data. You may request deletion of your Yaowise account and associated data at any time.
Deletion Methods
Method 1: Delete in the app (recommended)
This method requires you to be signed in. If you are not signed in, please use the email method below.
- Open the YaoWise app and sign in
- Switch to the "Settings" tab in the bottom navigation bar
- Tap the pencil (edit) icon in the top-right corner of the membership card to open the "Profile" screen
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap "Delete Account"
- In the confirmation dialog, type the confirmation phrase "DELETE MY ACCOUNT" exactly, then submit
24-hour cooling-off period: your account is not deleted immediately. Deletion is scheduled to run 24 hours later. During this period you can keep using YaoWise and can cancel the deletion from the same screen. Once it runs, the data cannot be recovered.
Method 2: Request by email
If you cannot access the app, you can request account deletion by email:
- Send to: support@yaowise.com
- Subject: Account Deletion Request
- Body: please include the following
- The email address or phone number you registered with
- Your account username (if you remember it)
- Reason for deletion (optional)
Processing time: we will process your deletion request within 7 business days of receiving it.
Data Handling After Deletion
Effective immediately when you submit the request
- Device push tokens are cleared immediately; we stop sending any push notifications to your device
- VIP auto-renewal is switched off immediately (if it was enabled)
Permanently deleted when the deletion runs (24 hours after submission)
- Account profile information (nickname, avatar, etc.)
- Profiles (name, date and time of birth, gender, avatar)
- All reading records and history
- Calendar data
- Yao coin balance, remaining quota and VIP status
- Third-party account binding identifiers (WeChat, Apple)
If you cancel the deletion within the 24-hour cooling-off period, all of the above data and balances are kept intact.
Deleted after a retention period
- Sign-in and authentication diagnostic logs (passwords are never included): retained for at most 180 days from creation, for security auditing and abuse prevention
Retained after de-identification
The following data is unlinked from your identity when the deletion runs, so it can no longer be traced back to you, but is retained to meet legal and audit requirements:
- Transaction, subscription and top-up records (retained as required by tax and financial audit regulations)
- Aggregated statistics (contain no personally identifiable information)
Data Export
Before deleting your account, you may request an export of your data:
- Send an email to: support@yaowise.com
- Subject: Data Export Request
- We will send you a copy of your data in JSON format within 7 business days
Partial Data Deletion
If you only want to delete some of your data without deleting your whole account, you can:
In the app
- Delete a single reading: swipe left on the record in "History" and tap "Delete"
- Delete readings in bulk: long-press any record in "History" to enter multi-select mode, then select and delete
- Delete a profile: remove profiles you no longer need from profile management
By email
Email support@yaowise.com describing which specific data you want deleted. To unlink a WeChat or Apple account, please contact us by email and we will handle it for you.
Important Notice
- Irreversible once it runs: you can cancel within the 24-hour cooling-off period; once the deletion runs, the data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered
- Yao coins are cleared: your Yao coin balance is cleared when the deletion runs and is not refundable
- VIP ends: VIP membership ends when the deletion runs; unused time is not refunded
- Subscriptions must be cancelled separately: deleting your account does not cancel your Google Play or App Store subscription. Cancel it yourself in Google Play "Subscriptions" or iOS "Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions", otherwise the store will keep charging you
- Referrals: your invite code stops working, but users you have already invited are unaffected
